Three events of the Irkutsk region included in TOP-200 of the best event projects in Russia

The status of the “National Event of 2018” was awarded to the International Winter Games Festival on Baikal “Zimniada”, the International festival of wooden sculpture “Lukomorye on Baikal” and the International Buryat national Festival “Altargana-2018”.

This year, 1600 applications from 74 regions of Russia were submitted for the status of the “National Event of the Year”, the contest was 8 projects in place.

The evaluation is carried out on a number of criteria: originality, scale, sustainability, mass character, infrastructure development, media activity, seasonality and others. The title of the “National Event of the Year” was given to 200 of the most interesting events of Russia from different parts of the country, which tourists are eager to visit not only from all over Russia, but also from countries of near and far abroad. Some of them have reached the international level and are known all over the world.

The International festival of wooden sculpture “Lukomorye Baikal” was held for the first time in 2011. For seven years of its existence sculptors from different countries of the world and almost from all regions of Russia took part in the events. Every year the geography of the festival is expanding. Thanks to the fact that guests come from different countries, the festival features various schools of woodcarving. In 2017, the international festival of wooden sculpture “Lukomorye Baikal” won first place in the nomination “Event in the field of culture” of the National Award in the field of event tourism “Russian Event Awards”.

The national calendar of events EventsInRussia.com is a federal project on the best tourist events in Russia, created on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture in the framework of the federal program to promote the Russian tourist product “Visit Russia / Time to rest in Russia.” Annually, according to the results of the expert commission’s work, the TOP-200 best events of the year are selected, which get the status of the National event.
